With heavy hearts, we announce the peaceful passing of Guynelle Marie Hooper Brooks, age 96, who entered into eternal rest on Wednesday, July 2, 2025, surrounded by the love that defined her remarkable life.
Guynelle was the embodiment of warmth and compassion, touching every life she encountered with her gentle spirit and unconditional love. As a devoted wife, caring mother and cherished grandmother, she created a legacy of tenderness that will live on in the hearts of her family for generations to come.
A faithful and committed Christian, she was a member of the Providence Presbyterian Church. Guynelle's unwavering faith was the cornerstone of her life. Her presence on the front pew during worship services will be greatly missed. Her loving spirit radiated through every interaction, and she was known for always having a kind word for everyone she met. Whether offering comfort to a friend in need or sharing a warm hug with a stranger, Guynelle's compassionate nature made the world a brighter place.
Her 96 years were filled with purpose, love, and service to others. She leaves behind a beautiful testament to what it means to live with grace, kindness, and an open heart.
Guynelle is now united with her loving husband of 52 years, Lee Grant Brooks, Sr., beloved granddaughters, Tonie Martin Lewis and Heather Brooks Camilletti, her parents, Joseph Harvard and Beulah Hooper, and siblings, Luzelle Corbin, Edith Jones, Dorothy Booth, Monroe Hooper, Thomas Hooper, Howell Hooper and Joyce Webb, as well as numerous other treasured family members and friends.
Guynelle leaves to cherish her memory her daughters, Sherry Brooks Martin [Stan]; Sharon Brooks Martin and Alice Jane Powell and her sons, Lee Grant Brooks, Jr. [Yvonne]; Joseph Wayne Brooks [Shirley]; Phillip Ray Brooks [Lynn] and David Whitt Brooks [Renee]; 14 grandchildren, 18 great grandchildren and 1 great-great grandson. Guynelle is also survived by two sisters, Laura Jo Corley and Linda McGaha [Robert], as well as numerous nieces and nephews whom she loved like her own.
The worship service honoring the memory of Guynelle will be held at Harris Funeral Home on Monday, July 7, 2025, at 3:00 p.m. with visitation prior to the service from 1:00PM to 2:30PM. Leading the service is Dr. Loyd Melton with remarks offered by her granddaughter, Julie Martin Nelson. Burial will follow in Forest Lawn Memory Gardens., 2699 Hwy. 72 W, Abbeville, SC 29620.
The pallbearers are her grandsons Gregg Brooks, Craig Brooks, and Eric Delgado, along with great grandsons Matthew Nelson, Alexander Nelson, Brady Voyles, Thomas Brooks, and Brady Shrum.
With a grateful heart, the family expresses deep appreciation to Dr. Loyd Melton, Dr. Keith Scott, Dr. Blake Hodges, and to her dear caregivers. We are thankful for your kindness and support.
As an expression of sympathy, flowers may be sent and memorial donations may be offered to the Providence Presbyterian Church at Post Office Box 226, Lowndesville, SC 29659.
Guynelle's memory will be treasured by all who were blessed to know her. Her legacy of unconditional love and her example of Christian faith will continue to inspire and comfort those she leaves behind. She will be loved forever and a day. May you rest in peace.
