George D. Hall, Jr.

George D. Hall, Jr., 81, of Abbeville, SC, husband of Jayne Thompson Hall, died Thursday, April 16, 2026, at his home surrounded by his loving family. He was born in Pendleton, SC to the late George D. Hall, Sr. and Alice Belle Brown Hall Anderson Hardy.

A 1963 graduate of Abbeville High School, George pursued a career that reflected both his expertise and enthusiasm for machinery, making his mark as a master mechanic. His hands shaped and repaired engines with precision and care. George found joy in the simple pleasures. He greatly enjoyed the thrill of drag racing and the quiet patience of fishing and hunting; however, family was at the heart of George’s world. He loved spending time with his family, creating memories filled with warmth and laughter. George was a life-long member of the Abbeville First Baptist Church where he had served as a Deacon and was a member of the Sherry Wilson Sunday School class. He will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege to know him.

George is survived by his loving wife of 61 years, Jayne, of the home; two sons, Tim Hall (Christa) and Tony Hall, all of Abbeville, SC; daughter, Shanna Wicker (Phyllis) of Cayce, SC; two sisters, Rita Gamble (Baxter) and Kathy H. Greer, all of Abbeville, SC; six grandchildren whom he loved dearly, Danielle, Julie, Katie (Steven), Madison, Emma and Kaylynn; and numerous extended family and friends.

The family will receive friends 5:00PM – 7:00PM, Sunday, April 19, 2026, at Harris Funeral Home, Abbeville Chapel, 302 N. Main Street, Abbeville, SC. Funeral services will be 11:00AM, Tuesday, April 21, 2026, at the Abbeville First Baptist Church Christian Life Center with Pastor Chris Sullivan and Pastor Tripp Speer officiating. Burial will follow in Forest Lawn Memory Gardens.
