George L. Bryant

George L. Bryant, 92, husband of Ruth Shepard Bryant, of Abbeville, died peacefully Friday, April 26, 2019 at the Abbeville Nursing Home. He was born in Anderson to the late William Lonnie and Magnolia Evans Bryant.
For many years, George was employed by Milliken & Co. – Abbeville Plant. Later he was associated with Richard Mundy Builders constructing houses. George was an accomplished craftsman designing and creating furniture and cabinets. He and Ruth were happy together whether dancing at the Lowndesville Community Center, gathering and shelling pecans or gardening, especially growing sweet potatoes. George was a faithful member of Lebanon Presbyterian Church and the Men’s Sunday School class.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers and sisters, Richard, Reedy, Broadus, Austin, Gerald, Archie, Clarence, Charles, JD, Madge, Mabel, Betty, Judy, Cleo, Hazel, Helen and Lizzelle.
George is survived by his wife of 70 years, Ruth, of the home; a daughter, Bonnie Boyd (Tommy), of Abbeville; a son, Ricky Bryant, of Abbeville; four grandchildren, Kristy Boyd, Jennifer Fisher (Ben), Josh Bryant (Lacy) and Lauren Hudson (Justin); and ten great-grandchildren, Tyler, Zander, Ari, Jude, Eli, Jamie, Cannon, Rushton, Will and Jada.
The family will receive friends 12:30PM – 2:00PM, Monday, April 29, 2019 in Lebanon Presbyterian Church. Funeral services will begin at 2:00PM in the church with the Rev. Dan Smyth officiating. Burial will follow in Greenwood Memorial Gardens.
