Frank A. Uldrick, Jr., 81, of Abbeville, SC, husband of Betty Sutherland Uldrick, died Thursday, April 24, 2025, at his home surrounded by his loving family. He was born in Abbeville, SC to the late Frank A. Uldrick, Sr. and Bessie Lee Edwards Uldrick.
Frank was a 1963 graduate of Abbeville High School. He dedicated 25 years to Pirelli Cable, followed by 13 years of devoted service at the Abbeville Sheriff’s Department. Following his retirement from the county, Frank flourished in his role as campground host at Calhoun Falls State Park for 13 years, where he was known for his outgoing personality and his ability to connect with everyone he encountered, as he never met a stranger.
Frank’s favorite pastimes included camping, traveling with his wife, and finding good places to eat. He was a lifetime member of Upper Long Cane Presbyterian Church, where he served as a Deacon and Elder. Frank was also a member of the Long Canites senior group and the Men of the Church. In addition, he was a founding member of the Cold Spring Volunteer Fire Department, member of the Abbeville Wheels of Time Car Club, and the infamous Cold Spring Café Breakfast Club.
Frank’s greatest happiness came from his family, having spent 60 wonderful years with his high school sweetheart. Known affectionately as “Honey” by his grandchildren and numerous family and friends, he was often found joking, laughing, and living life to the fullest.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his daughter, Laurie Uldrick Wolfe; two sisters, Martha Uldrick McSwain and her husband, Walter H. ‘Mac’ McSwain; Alta Uldrick Hanks and her husband, J.A. ‘Hanks’ Hanks; and son-in-law, Tony H. Bonds.
Frank is survived by his beloved wife, Betty, of the home; daughter, Dana Uldrick Bonds; four grandchildren, Madison Sutherland, Drew (Kathryn) Wolfe, Nathan (Shauna) Bonds, and Bethany Bonds (Gatlin) Minick; eight great-grandchildren, Tristan, Ayla, Gracelyn, Lausan, Meredith, Harrison, Maddison and Logan; and two nephews, Hartsel McSwain and Jerry McSwain.
Frank’s family extends their sincere appreciation to Dr. Blake Hodges, the staff at Greenwood Regional Rehabilitation Hospital, and Agape Care for their dedication and care of our “Honey.”
The family will receive friends from 1:30PM – 2:30PM, Sunday, April 27, 2025, in the Upper Long Cane Presbyterian Church fellowship hall. Funeral services will begin at 3:00PM in the church sanctuary with Rev. Gordon Tubbs and Rev. Wayne Wicker officiating. Burial will follow in the Little Mountain Presbyterian Church cemetery.
Those serving as pallbearers will be Drew Wolfe, Tristan Sutherland, Nathan Bonds, Gatlin Minick, Harrison Randall and Hartsel McSwain. Honorary pallbearers will be the men of Upper Long Cane Presbyterian Church and the men of the Long Canites senior group.
