Frances B. Partain, 100, of Cross Hill, SC, wife of the late Richard Partain, departed this life on Thursday, May 30, 2024, at NHC Healthcare Laurens. ‘Peg’ was born in Homer City, PA to the late Anna Rose and Samuel Bruno on September 15, 1923, and married the love of her life, Richard, on August 24, 1946.
She dedicated her life to creating a warm and loving home. Mrs. Partain was an accomplished hand quilter, making a quilt for each of her children and grandchildren in addition to many wall hangings that were given as gifts to her friends. ‘Fran’ was a prolific reader and fan of the NFL. She knew every player on every team and insisted she have the NFL channel at her apartment in both independent and assisted living. Mrs. Partain relocated to Newberry, SC at the age of 90 to be near her daughter, Glenna, son-in-law, Dick, and two grandsons, Glen and Shawn.
In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by her son, Samuel.
Frances is survived by her daughter, Glenna Vose (Richard) of Cross Hill, SC; son, Charles Partain (Gina) of Gardner, MA; twelve grandchildren and twelve great-grandchildren.
A Memorial Mass will be held at 10:30AM, Wednesday, June 5, 2024, at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church, 915 Mathis Road, Greenwood, SC. A private inurnment will be in Fort Jackson National Cemetery on Thursday, June 6, 2024.
In lieu of flowers, the family respectfully requests memorial contributions, in memory of Mrs. Partain, be sent to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105 or Agape Care, 326 Montague Ave., Greenwood, SC 29649.
