Emma Marie Wengerd Masters

Emma Marie Wengerd Masters, 90, of Abbeville, SC, passed away on Wednesday, May 13, 2026, in Dayton, Virginia. Born in Kidron, Ohio, she was the daughter of the late Eli J. and Martha E. Miller Wengerd. Mrs. Masters was the beloved wife of the late William E. "Bill" Masters.

Throughout her life, Mrs. Masters was known for her compassion and unwavering support for those in need. She enjoyed gardening, sewing, quilting, and baking, activities through which she expressed her creativity and care. She was a cherished wife, mother, and grandmother, whose presence will be deeply missed by her family and friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband; son, William "Eddie" Masters, Jr.; two daughters, Patricia S. Sommers and Betty Lou Hershberger; two brothers, Henry and Emory Wengerd; and two sisters, Mary W. Nisly and Iva W. Miller.

Mrs. Masters is survived by her daughters, Connie Marie Overholt and Cynthia "Cindy" Hershberger (Dwayne); brother Lonnie Wengerd (Esther); son-in-law Dave Sommers; sister-in-law Nancy Wengerd; twenty-three grandchildren; numerous great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.

The family will receive friends 5:00PM to 6:00PM Saturday, May 16, 2026 at Harris Funeral Home, 302 North Main St. Abbeville, SC 29620.

Honoring Mrs. Emma’s humble and gracious spirit, Graveside Services will be 2:30PM on Sunday, May 17, 2026 in the Whispering Pines Mennonite Church Cemetery, 7085 Hwy 20, Honea Path, SC, 29654.

Memorial contributions may be sent in memory of Mrs. Masters to a charity of one’s choice.
