Earlene Spearman Milford

Earlene Milford, 85, passed away peacefully after a long and well-lived life devoted to her faith, her family, and serving others. She leaves behind a legacy of love, kindness, and joyful praise that touched countless lives.

From an early age, music was one of God's greatest gifts to Earlene. Growing up, she sang with her two sisters, known as The Spearman Sisters, and recorded an album and was featured on television. Throughout her life, singing remained at the center of who she was. She faithfully shared her talent at Gilgal Methodist Church, leading congregational worship and singing beautiful solos that inspired and encouraged others.

Earlene believed music was a ministry. She generously volunteered her time singing at local nursing homes, bringing comfort, hope, and joy to elderly residents. She also led the children's choir at Gilgal, taught Sunday School, and faithfully served wherever she was needed. She had a special place in her heart for shut-ins and the elderly, often visiting them to offer companionship, encouragement, and prayer. Her life reflected her deep love for God and her desire to serve others with humility and compassion.

Professionally, Earlene dedicated many years to education. She began her career at Due West Elementary School before serving at the Abbeville County School District office. She worked in the business office and later as Executive Assistant to the Superintendent, where she was respected for her professionalism, dedication, and caring spirit. She also took joy in fellowship through her cherished membership in the former Abbeville Pilot Club, where she joined with others in the pursuit of service and civic improvement. Earlene was known to all as a pleasure to be around. No request for help went unanswered; no friend or stranger ever felt unwelcome in her presence. The kindness that defined her was woven into every relationship, every smile, every quiet act of generosity.

One of the greatest blessings of Earlene's life began with a chance meeting at Lake Greenwood, where she met the love of her life, Gerald. What started as a simple encounter blossomed into a 60-year love story built on faith, commitment, and unwavering devotion. Together they shared a marriage filled with hard work and countless cherished memories. As her husband built a reputation as a successful businessman, dairy farmer, and respected community leader, Earlene was faithfully by his side every step of the way. She was his greatest supporter and steadfast partner throughout their life together. Their enduring partnership was a testament to mutual love, respect, and unwavering commitment.

Above all, Earlene treasured her family. She was a devoted wife and loving mother to her two daughters, Susan and Cindy. Nothing brought her greater pride than her four grandsons, Bryson, Jake, Dawson, and Ben, whom she loved deeply and celebrated at every opportunity. Her love for them was unwavering, and she found great joy in watching them grow. Some of the happiest memories were made traveling and taking cruises with her family, creating special traditions and unforgettable adventures that they will treasure forever.

Earlene will be remembered for her beautiful voice, her servant's heart, her unwavering faith, and the genuine kindness she extended to everyone she met. Whether through a song, a visit, a word of encouragement, or a simple act of love, she made the world a brighter place.

Though her voice is now silent on earth, we rejoice in knowing she is singing praises in her heavenly home. Her legacy of faith, music, and love will continue to live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved her.

In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by her sister, Ann Spearman Warren.

Earlene is survived by two daughters, Susan M. Glenn (Steve) of Abbeville and Cindy Moultrie (Billy) of Marietta, GA; two brothers, William Earl Spearman, Jr. (Debbie) of Simpsonville and Jimmy Spearman of Fountain Inn; sister, Floy Seay of Greenville; four grandchildren, Bryson Glenn (Maggie), Jake Moultrie, Dawson Glenn and Ben Moultrie; and brother-in-law, Sam Milford (Sandy) of Abbeville.

A celebration of Earlene’s life will be 11:00AM, August 1, 2026, at Harris Funeral Home, 302 N. Main Street, Abbeville, SC with Rev. Richard Ashley officiating.
