Earl Lee Madeline, 83, of the Savannah Lakes community, passed away peacefully at his home on Saturday, July 11, 2026 in McCormick, SC.
Born in Attica, Michigan, Earl was the son of the late Augustine P. and Vera Willin Madeline. He was a 1961 graduate of Imlay City High School and began his professional career at the Lapeer County Bank. He later joined General Motors, where he worked with dedication for 30 years before retiring.
Earl’s commitment to his community extended well beyond his professional career. He served as Treasurer of Attica Township over 30 years. Through his integrity, dependability, and devoted public service, he earned the trust and deep respect of the community he was proud to call home.
A man of many talents, Earl was happiest when working with his hands and bringing an idea to life. He found great satisfaction and peace in woodcarving and painting, pursuits through which his craftsmanship, patience, and artistic vision shone. He also enjoyed the friendship and good-natured competition of playing board games, creating many cherished memories with family and friends gathered around the table. He was known for his charmingly playful nature and always knew how to make you laugh.
Earl was preceded in death by his parents; his first wife, Linda Butterfield Madeline; and ten siblings: Carolyn Weber, Pat Madeline, Jack Madeline, Phil Madeline, Doris Schwerin, Paul Madeline, Marsha Madeline, Reggie Madeline, Margaret Madeline, and Chris Trudeau.
He is survived by his devoted wife of 26 years, Judith “Judy” Kempf Madeline; his brother, Nick Madeline, and his wife, Patti, of the Savannah Lakes community; his children, Lee Madeline and his wife, Lori, of Greenville, South Carolina; Dena Downey and her husband, Robert, of the Savannah Lakes community; Robert Cain and his wife, Jeanne, of Fairfax, Virginia; and Matthew Cain and his wife, Maria, of Garrett County, Maryland. Earl is also survived by ten grandchildren, two great-grandchildren, and many other relatives and friends who will remember him with great love and affection.
A graveside service will be held at 11:00AM, Saturday, October 10, 2026 in the Attica Cemetery. Lunch to follow from Noon – 3:00PM at the Attica Hall for fellowship and time to share memories.
In lieu of flowers, the family respectfully requests that memorial contributions in Earl’s memory be made to the American Cancer Society, P.O. Box 11796, Charlotte, NC 28220.
