E. Rayford Prince

E. Rayford Prince, 85, of Abbeville, husband of the late Mary Elisabeth Agan ‘June’ Prince, died Sunday, June 28, 2026, at his home. He was born in Donalds, SC to the late Ernest R. and Lois Haynes Prince.

Mr. Prince was a 1959 graduate of Dixie High School and 1963 graduate of Erskine College. He served in the U.S. Army. He and his wife had a successful career as owners of Princess Uniforms and Accessories.

One of Mr. Prince proudest accomplishments was receiving the SC Order of the Silver Crescent, an honor that highlighted his exceptional contributions to society. Rayford dedicated 21 years of his life volunteering with the Kairos Prison Ministry, touching the lives of many individuals with his kindness and compassion.

He led a remarkable life filled with dedication and service to his community serving on many boards. Rayford had an integral part in serving the community with a meal at Thanksgiving and Christmas provided by Haven of Rest.

In addition to his professional success and philanthropic endeavors, Mr. Prince had a passion for serving Jesus through words and song to fulfill ‘The Great Commission.’ He was a member of Grace Methodist Church.

In addition to his parents, and wife, June, he was preceded in death by a sister, Hazel Martin and a nephew Terry Martin.

Rayford is survived by his four nephews, Ralph Martin (Chris) of Boiling Springs, SC, Ronnie Martin, Dr. Jimmy Agan (Tricia) and Chad Miller (Deborah Goldberg); a brother-in-law, Clarence D. Agan, Jr. (Jeannie) and two sisters-in-law, Jane Agan (Ed Evans) and Carolin Ann McLane (Riley) all of Abbeville; special caregivers, Doris McBride, Freddie Boyd, Louise Wharton, Stae Rayford, Bertha Williams and Peaches Thomas; and many wonderful, great nieces and great- nephews.

The family will receive friends, Monday, July 6, 2026, from 12:30PM – 1:30PM at Harris Funeral Home, 302 N. Main St. Abbeville, SC 29620. Funeral services will begin at 2:00PM in Main Street Methodist Church, 300 N. Main St. Abbeville, with Rev. Brandon Fulmer and Rev. Dr. Jimmy Agan officiating. Burial will follow in Forest Lawn Memory Gardens.
