Douglas W. "Doug" Chapman

Doug Chapman, 86, of Abbeville, husband of Phyllis Small died Friday, June 26, 2020 at the Abbeville Area Medical Center. He was born in Newton, MA to the late William T. and Arline Woodworth Chapman.
Doug proudly served his country in the United States Marine Corps. He was employed for 26 years as sales manager with Mid-State Products Company in Harrisburg, PA and owned and operated Rainbow Sweats with his son, Vic, in Harrisburg. An avid outdoorsman and sportsman, Doug enjoyed hiking, biking, canoeing, kayaking and competitive shooting. He also took great pleasure in the art of Judo where he earned a 5th degree black belt. Most days, Doug could be found at Main Street Coffee Company, where he and other members of the ‘Old Timers Coffee Club’ spent their mornings drinking coffee and solving the world’s problems in their own way.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by the mother of his children, Sandra B. Chapman.
Doug is survived by his wife of 20 years, Phyllis, of the home; a son, Vic Chapman (Jody) of Ninety Six; a daughter, Robyn T. Chapman of Covington, GA; a brother, Richard T. Chapman of Connecticut; and his loving companion, Murphy, his dog. He is also survived by Phyllis’s son, Brian Small (Shannon) and their children, Danielle and Ari, of Nashville, TN and Phyllis’s mother, Miriam Haimowicz of Bayonne, NJ, all of whom were special to Doug.
A service to celebrate Doug’s life will be held 2:00PM, Wednesday, July 1, 2020, at Harris Funeral Home, Abbeville Chapel with military honors.
