Dorothy 'Dot' Kidd Manning

Dorothy "Dot" Kidd Manning, 89, of Abbeville, passed away peacefully on Thursday, April 30, 2026, at Lakelands Nursing & Rehabilitation Center in Abbeville. She was the beloved wife of the late Rev. Virgil L. Manning.

Mrs. Manning was born in Fort Mill, South Carolina, to the late Olin N. and Ouida Carruth Kidd.

A 1955 graduate of Calhoun Falls High School, she was a devoted member of South Greenwood Pentecostal Holiness Church. Throughout her life, she actively served on various church committees, participated in the Women’s Ministry, and was a dedicated member of the Kingdom Builders Sunday School Class.

As a faithful pastor’s wife, Mrs. Manning contributed greatly to her community. She was a former co-owner of a children’s daycare in Calhoun Falls, a skilled seamstress, and enjoyed playing the piano. She found joy in listening to music and cooking, and she cherished her family, especially her grandchildren.

Mrs. Manning’s life was marked by her commitment to faith, family, and service, leaving a lasting impact on all who knew her.

In addition to her parents and her husband, she was preceded in death by a grandson, Joshua Rolin, son-in-law, Joseph Meek and a sister, Mildred Kidd Moss Bishop.

Mrs. Manning is survived by her daughters, Charlene Meek and Deedee Johnson (Marion) both of Abbeville; three grandchildren, Matthew Rolin, Brandon Johnson (Lacy) and Nathan Johnson (Lauren); seven great-grandchildren, Catalin, Chelsea, Shaney, Landon, Walker, Kate and Mary Lauren.

The family will receive friends from 11:30AM to 12:30AM on Monday, May 4, 2026 at South Greenwood Pentecostal Holiness Church, 17 1st Street, Greenwood, SC 29646. Funeral services will begin on Monday in the church at 1:00PM with Dr. Terry Bailey and Rev. Joel Sexton officiating. Burial will follow in Forest Lawn Memory Gardens, 2699 Hwy 72 W. Abbeville, SC 29620.

The family is the home.
