Derrell Maurice Brown

February 18, 1953 — June 15, 2019

Derrell Maurice Brown, 66, husband of Pat Fossum Brown, of Anderson, died Saturday, June 15, 2019 at the Rainey Hospice House.  He was born February 18, 1953 in Anderson to Betsy Ross Brown and the late George Calvin Brown.

For over 29 years, Mr. Brown was a supervisor at Owens Corning Fiberglas. In 2018, he retired as a structural steel fabrication supervisor with South Carolina Steel (a division of CMC) in Taylors.  He served as President of the Burton’s Creek Hunting Club in Antreville, a position he has held for over 25 years.  Mr. Brown, a 45-year Mason, was a member of the Hiram Lodge # 68 in Anderson.

In addition to his mother, he is survived by his wife, Pat, of the home; his children, Ross Brown (De-a), Lane Thornton (Craig) and Anna Giles (Wes) all of Anderson; and six grandchildren, Graci Brown, Calloway Thornton, Karsyn Brown, Owen Brown, Davis Thornton and Alice Giles.

A Celebration Derrell’s Life will be Saturday, June 29, 2019 from 4:30pm – 6:30pm at McConnell Hall, 3502 Midway Road, Anderson, SC 29621.

Memorial contributions, in memory of Derrell, may be made to The Wounded Warriors Project, PO Box 758517 Topeka, KS 66675-8517, to The Cancer Association of Anderson 215 East Calhoun St. Anderson, SC 29621, or to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
