Darrell E. Waits Sr.

Darrell E. Waits, Sr., 78, husband of Linda Campbell Waits, of the Nation Community, died Thursday, October 17, 2019 at his home. He was born in Abbeville County, SC to the late Robert ‘Bobby’ and Lizelle Jones Waits.

A 1961 graduate of Calhoun Falls High School, Mr. Waits was employed with the Prysmian Group, retiring after 33 years of loyal service.   He was active in the Calhoun Falls Lions Club for more than 50 years and a dedicated member of Bells United Methodist Church and the Fellowship Sunday School class.  Mr. Waits was a man known for working hard; however, he enjoyed fishing and shrimping during his leisure time. His family was most important to him and his grandchildren were the lights of his life.

Mr. Waits is survived by his wife of 58 years, Linda, of the home; his children, Darry Waits (Carol) and Stephanie Carwile (Ken) all of Abbeville; his grandchildren, Lenzi Waits Lee (Chad), Wesley Carwile, Brady Waits, Kensley Carwile and Corey Waits and a great-grandchild on the way.

The family will receive friends 5:00PM – 7:00PM, Saturday, October 19, 2019 at Harris Funeral Home, Abbeville Chapel.  Funeral services will be 3:00PM, Sunday, October 20, 2019 at Bells United Methodist Church with Rev. Scott Allen officiating.

Burial will follow in Bells United Methodist Church Cemetery.
