Charles 'Red' Carroll Parnell Sr., 82, of 104 Oakland Ave., Abbeville Arms Apts., died Saturday, Sept. 21, 2002, at Abbeville Nursing Home.
Born in Abbeville County, he was a retired employee with Monsanta Mills and was a member of Friendship Baptist Church.
Surviving are widow, Mary Jo McCurry Parnell of the home; daughters, Brenda Sexton of Panama City, Fla., Lynn Ware and Wanda Kidd, both of Abbeville and Pat Stone of Due West; sons, Olin Parnell of Greenwood and Charles Parnell Jr. of McCormick; sister, Bessie Sanders of Newberry; 14 grandchildren; and 17 great-grandchildren.
He was the son of the late Charlie and Annie Partridge Parnell. He was preceded in death by a son, Terry Parnell; and a daughter, Kim Parnell.
Graveside services are at 2 p.m. Tuesday from Melrose Cemetery with the Rev. Wendell Rhodes officiating. The body is at The Chandler-Jackson Funeral Home, where the family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday.
The family will be at the home of Mr. and Mrs. John Boswell, 118 Moore St., Abbeville.
