Carolyn M. McElrath

Carolyn M. McElrath, 91, of Abbeville, wife of the late Harold David ‘Boots’ McElrath, died Tuesday, December 2, 2025, at McCormick Post Acute Care. She was born January 6, 1934, in Abbeville to the late Jessie McCoppin and Tommie Mae Harris.

Carolyn spent many years serving as a Nursing Assistant before retiring from Mohawk Industries. A cherished member of Rocky River AME church, she was known for her genuine kindness and the positive influence she had on those around her. Carolyn will be remembered for her loving spirit, selfless devotion to her work, and the warmth she brought to her family, friends, and community. She leaves behind a legacy of compassion that will not be forgotten.

In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by her son, Roger Johnson and daughter, Debbie Johnson.

Carolyn left to cherish her memory a son, Charles McElrath (Tracy) of Antreville; six grandchildren and twelve great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends 10:00AM – 11:00AM, Saturday, December 6, 2025, at Harris Funeral Home, Abbeville Chapel, 302 N. Main Street, Abbeville, SC. Graveside services will begin at 11:30AM on Saturday in Forest Lawn Memory Gardens, 2699 Hwy. 72W, Abbeville, SC 29620.

The family is at the home of her deceased son, Roger Johnson, 3502 Vista Trail, Anderson, SC 29624.
