Carol Argo (Preston)

Carol Preston Argo, 91, of Abbeville, wife of the late William Andrew ‘Bill’ Argo, died Sunday, July 11, 2021 at the Abbeville Nursing Home. Born January 2, 1930 in Carrollton, GA, she was the daughter of the late John Pittman Preston and Bessie Pitts Preston.

Mrs. Argo was affectionately known as ‘Mer’. She enjoyed extensive traveling and was always happy “on the road”. Shopping was Mrs. Argo’s favorite past time; however, family held her heart. She was a member of First Creek Baptist Church.

In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by a brother and sister-in-law, J.P. and Julia Preston; three grandchildren, Travis, Jessica and Drew; a sister, Margaret Preston Brannon; and a brother-in-law, Jesse Lynch.

Mrs. Argo is survived by a son, Andrew A. ‘Andy’ Argo (Tammy) of Abbeville; three daughters, Reesa Argo Schultz (Dieter Strohhacker) of Denver, NC, Christi A. Hutchens (Allen) of Iva, SC and Billi Argo Beard (Chris) of Greenville, SC; a sister, Betty Preston Lynch of Carrollton, GA; seven grandchildren, Nikki, John Paul, Justin, Angel, Alleson, Kayla and Jake; and nine great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends 1:00PM – 2:00PM, Thursday, July 15, 2021 in First Creek Baptist Church. Funeral services will begin at 2:00PM in the church sanctuary with Rev. Donnie Murdock officiating. Burial will follow in First Creek Baptist Church Cemetery.

The family extends their appreciation to the doctors and staff of the Abbeville Nursing Home for their loving care of Mrs. Argo.
