Brenda Gilbert "Capell" Proffitt

Brenda Capell Gilbert Proffitt, 57, of Greenwood, passed away Thursday, March 14, 2019 at her residence. Born in Greenwood County, she was the daughter of the late Margaret Gossett Lyerly and Artie Capell.

Brenda attended Greenwood High School and Charzanne Beauty College.  She was employed with Hyde Park Mini Mart and worshipped at Shade Tree Revival Church in Waterloo and most recently, Lakewood Family Worship in Greenwood.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Larry Proffitt.

Brenda is survived by her children, Ric Buckner (Jennifer), Jennifer Anne Nettles, Samantha Reeves, Kayla Buckner and also, Eric Carter, who was reared in the home; a brother, Willie Whatley; sisters, Jenny Capell Campbell (Terry) and Linda Barnes; two nephews, Eddie Smith and Robert Bohrer who live in the home;  six grandchildren; and her devoted fiancé, David Tobias.  She was also ‘Aunt Brenda’ to innumerable children and adults alike.

The family will receive friends 1:00PM – 2:30PM, Monday, March 18, 2019, at Harris Funeral Home, 302 N. Main Street, Abbeville, SC 29620 with Pastor Grady Lothridge, Pastor Russell Addis and Pastor Eric Hill officiating.  Funeral services will begin at 3:00PM in the funeral home chapel.  Burial will follow in Greenwood Memorial Gardens.
