Bootsie Gilliam (Edwards)

Elizabeth Edwards ‘Bootsie’ Gilliam, 90, of Abbeville, wife of the late Samuel Grady Gilliam, Sr., died Monday, November 22, 2021 at Self Regional Healthcare. She was born in Abbeville to the late John Gibson and Gladys Clara Brazeal Edwards.

Bootsie graduated from Abbeville High School in 1949 and from Erskine College in 1953. Her family and church meant the world to her. She led a Godly life and did everything with enthusiasm. A member of Sharon United Methodist Church for 68 years, Bootsie was a member of the missionary society and led the way in so many activities. She was also a member of the Entre Nous Book Club.

Bootsie is survived by her children, Susan Gilliam Gladden (Bobby), Samuel G. Gilliam, Jr. (Frances) all of Abbeville and Henry Gibson Gilliam (Dean Brown) of Louisville, KY; five grandchildren, Tripp (Jerene), Wesley, Joseph, Carter (Field) and Caitlin (Justin); and six great-grandchildren, Jacob, Josie, Grady, Genevieve, Forrest and Holden.

Funeral services will be 2:00PM, Wednesday, November 24, 2021, in Sharon United Methodist Church. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends following the graveside.

Memorials may be sent to Sharon UMC Church, 246 Sharon Church Road, Abbeville, SC 29620 or to Hospice and Palliative Care of the Piedmont, 408 W. Alexander Ave., Greenwood, SC 29646.
