Bobby Walter Fortescue, 76, of Abbeville, died Monday, December 17, 2018 at his home. He was born on October 9, 1942 in Abbeville, to the late William Thomas and Victoria Mae Monroe Fortescue.
He received an honorable discharge after serving in the United States Army from 1961 to 1964. Later, he retired from Pirelli Cable after being employed there for more than 30 years. Bobby was a talented gardener. He was happiest spending time with his great grandson, Jayden. Bobby was of the Baptist faith.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three brothers, William (Bill) Fortescue, Harold (Gene) Fortescue, and Ray Fortescue; and five sisters, Margie Green, Helen Carter, Sara Smith, Marie Payne, and Faye Luker.
Bobby is survived by his daughters, Tracey Hilley (Russ) and Kelly Bryan; brothers, Tom Fortescue and Johnny Fortescue; sister, Louise Tiller; grandchildren, Russell Hilley, Quentin Hilley, Cody Bryan, and Timothy Bryan; and great-grandson, Jayden Bryan all of Abbeville County.
The family will receive friends from 1:00PM – 2:00PM, Thursday, December 20, 2018 at Harris Funeral Home, Abbeville Chapel. Funeral Services will begin at 2:30PM in the funeral home chapel with Rev. Alvin Hodges officiating. The Committal Service, with military honors, will be 10:00AM, Friday, December 21, 2018 at M.J. ‘Dolly’ Cooper Veterans Cemetery.
