Betty Irene Powell Parker

Betty Irene Powell Parker, 88, widow of Marion Below "Buck" Parker passed away peacefully Sunday Aug. 16, 2015 at Abbeville Nursing Home.

Born in Abbeville, SC she was a daughter of the late Rufus Forrest Powell and Brooksy Barrett Powell.

Betty was a graduate of Abbeville High School and a retired Secretary with the Abbeville County Auditor's office. She was a faithful member of Bells United Methodist Church.

Survivors include her son David Andrew Parker and his wife Lana of Gaffney, SC; a granddaughter Graham Parker, two great-grandchildren, Parker Moroney, and Campbell Moroney of Westminister, SC; two daughters in law, Teresa Parker of Anderson, SC and Cathy Parker of Westminister; a special niece, Patsy Thomason of Abbeville; several nephews, numerous step grandchildren and step great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by two sons Daniel Franklin Parker and Stephen Lynn Parker and a grandson Benjamin Barrett Parker and four brothers Herbert Franklin Powell, Roy Eugene Powell, Rufus Barrett Powell and George Leslie Powell.

Funeral services will be conducted Wednesday Aug. 19, 2015 at 2:00 in Bells United Methodist Church with the Rev. Kevin Lindley officiating. The burial will follow in the church cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 1:00 until 2:00 PM Wednesday afternoon prior to services in the church social hall.

Memorials in memory of Betty may be made to a charity of one's choice.
