Betty Gambrell Dixon

Betty Gambrell Dixon, 87, of Calhoun Falls, wife of the late Samuel Wayne Dixon, died Tuesday, August 26, 2025, at NHC Heathcare Greenwood. She was born in Anderson, SC to the late Cheshire and Vera Ashley Gambrell.

Betty attended Dixie High School. She retired from Mohawk Industries with 47 years of dedicated service, where she was honored as the oldest associate at the time of her retirement. A life-time member of Northside Baptist Church in Calhoun Falls, Betty was actively involved in church activities, demonstrating her strong faith. She was also a proud member of the Eastern Star, a testament to her commitment to community service and fellowship and a member of the Red Hat Club in Calhoun Falls. Most of all, Betty cherished moments spent with family and friends, which brought her great joy and fulfillment. She leaves behind a legacy of love, dedication, and commitment to her family and community. Betty will be remembered by all those who had the privilege of knowing her.

In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by a sister, Nancy Prince and brother, Gene Gambrell.

Betty is survived by her children, Brian (Tonya) Dixon, Keith (Crystal) Johnson and Sandra Carter; four sisters, Jeannette Jennings, Ann Fleming, Molly Hughes and Polly Knight; a brother, Tommy Gambrell; and six grandchildren.

The family will receive friends 11:00AM – 12:00PM, Saturday, August 30, 2025, at Northside Baptist Church, Calhoun Falls. Funeral services will begin at 12:00PM in the church sanctuary. There will be a private family burial in Forest Lawn Memory Gardens.
