Avanelle S. McCord, 92, resident of Mauldin, South Carolina, went to be with The Lord on November 20, 2022.
She wad born to the late Taylor H. Stewart and Sunie Medlin.
Avanelle is survived by her daughters: Barbara McCord (Harold), Marcia Cartledge (David), Debra Johnson (to the late, Alpheus), and Bonnie Gary (Robbie); son, James McCord (Jan); sister, Betty Woolbright; grandchildren: Hal McCord, Chris McCord, Angie Cook, Dave Cartledge, Jody Johnson, Rebecca Thrift, Tabitha Bradley, Josh Gary, Danielle Johnson, Lesley Hamby, Brandie Vaughn, and Brandon Compton; 22 great-grandchildren and 3 great-great-grandchildren.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Walter Godfrey McCord; 5 brothers and 5 sisters. Avanelle was a devout member of the Esther Sunday School Class of Simpsonville First Baptist.
She will be remembered for her strength and deep love of her family.
Graveside service will be held 3:00 PM on Friday, December 9, 2022, in Long Cane Cemetery.
The service will be officiated by Reverend Daryle Hawthorne.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to a local hospice or church of your choice.
