Annette Corn Cantrell

Annette Corn Cantrell, 82, of Abbeville, SC, passed away peacefully at her home on Saturday, March 21, 2026. Born in Union, South Carolina, she was the daughter of the late Hilliard Ross Corn and Irene Page Corn.

Mrs. Cantrell was a 1965 graduate of Furman University and dedicated many years to education as an elementary school teacher with the Abbeville County School District 60. A member of Abbeville First Baptist Church, she exhibited a passion for reading, gardening, traveling, and adventure. She was a member of the Literary Lantern Book Club, the Rose Garden Club and a founding member of the Abbeville Women's Club. Additionally, she was a longstanding supporter of the Abbeville Opera House. Her creative pursuits included painting, and she cherished spending time with her family.

In addition to her parents, Mrs. Cantrell was preceded in death by her husband of 48 years, James D. “Jim” Cantrell, and a brother, William Robert “Bob” Corn.

She is survived by her children and grandchildren, Ty Cantrell and his wife Amy of Covington, Georgia, along with their children Reece and Ragan; and Page Medlin and her husband Chris of Mt. Holly, North Carolina, along with their children Jessica and Josh. She also is survived by her dear friend and companion of nine years, Bill Atkins of Abbeville.

Family, friends, and community members are invited to drop by in remembrance and celebration of Annette Corn Cantrell’s life on Sunday, March 29, 2026, from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM at her residence, located at 119 Woodland Way, Abbeville.

In lieu of flowers, the family respectfully request all memorials, in memory of Annette, be sent to the Hospice and Palliative Care of the Piedmont, 408 W. Alexander Ave., Greenwood, SC 29646.
