Ronald Lalli and his wife, Linda, have been members of Good Shepherd Catholic Church since 2007 when they relocated to Savannah Lakes Village from their home in western Massachusetts.
Lalli was born in 1935 in Springfield, Mass. He was educated in Springfield schools and served in the U.S. Air Force. After receiving an honorable discharge, he returned home and enrolled at what is now Western New England University in Springfield, where he received a degree in mechanical engineering and MBA in finance.
During a 53-year business career, Ron founded or co-founded eight manufacturing companies in western Massachusetts and northern Connecticut, which employed between three thousand and four thousand people. Employees described him as a respectful leader, a motivator, mentor and friend driven by his Christian values.
Ron served on the Board of Trustees of Western New England University for 34 years. The university is located on a sprawling suburban campus in Springfield, with an enrollment of four thousand students in its engineering, law and pharmacy schools. He was a member of the board’s executive committee and the long-term planning and financial committees.
In addition to his career as a businessman and his responsibilities as a husband, father and university trustee, Ron found time to participate in civic and community service activities as a selectman and on other town committees in Montgomery, Mass., where he and Linda made their home for 25 years. He also served as a needs and evaluation consultant for the Springfield public school system.
In addition to Linda, his wife of 57 years, Ron is survived by their three children: daughter Daryl Michele Maynard, of Fernandina Beach, Fla.; and sons, U.S. Navy Cmdr. Michael Lalli, of Yorktown, Va.; and Christopher Lalli, of Southwick, Mass.; four grandchildren, and sisters Lauriana Lavallee and Phyllis Gotta, of Springfield, Mass.
