Myra Jean Gilmer Land, 72, wife of the late Rev. Bishop Gene A. Land, of Simpsonville, SC, died Friday, October 19, 2018 at the McLeod Hospice House in Florence. She was born in Abbeville to the late Jim Bert Gilmer and Helen Norrell Gilmer.
Mrs. Land was a graduate of Calhoun Falls High School. Her love of travel was evident in the many cruises she and her husband enjoyed over the years. Mrs. Land was a member of Park Place Church of God in Greenville.
In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by a brother, Bobby Gilmer; a sister, Phyllis Deal; a grandson, Stephen and a great-granddaughter, Dezirae.
Mrs. Land is survived by a daughter, Angie Thomas (Lee), of Darlington, SC; a son, Gene Anderson Land, Jr. (Tracey), of Greenwood; four brothers, Wayne Gilmer (Linda), of Calhoun Falls, Eddie Gilmer, Roger Gilmer (Tippie) and Ken Gilmer, all of Abbeville; five sisters, Trudy Fry (Don), of Abbeville, Wanda Land (David), of Greenwood, Kathy Willner (Steve), of Ninety Six, Pam Norris (George), of Abbeville and Tammie Taylor (Tommy) of Greenwood; six grandchildren, Codey, Rodney (Brandi), Brandon, Courtney, Brooke and Justin; and six great-grandchildren, Grace, Jarrett, Alexis, Natalie, Presley and Bentley.
The family will receive friends 5:00PM to 7:00PM, Monday, October 22, 2018 at Harris Funeral Home, Calhoun Falls Chapel. Funeral services will be 1:00PM, Tuesday, October 23, 2018 in the Calhoun Falls Church of God. Burial will follow in Latimer Cemetery.
