Mattie Davis Gilmer, "Ma," 99, of Calhoun Falls, wife of the late Samuel Paul Gilmer, died Sunday, March 4, 2018, at the home of her daughter. She was born in Anderson County to the late Robert Lee Davis and Rosa Lee Land Davis.
Mrs. Gilmer retired from the textile industry after many years of service. She was the oldest living member of Calhoun Falls United Methodist Church.
In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by a son, Richard D. Gilmer; grandson, Ricky Gilmer; son-in-law, Wayne Crittendon; three brothers and three sisters.
Mrs. Gilmer is the last surviving member of her immediate family. She is survived by her daughter, Paula Crittendon Hodges and her husband, Jim of Abbeville; daughter-in-law, Jean Gilmer; grandchildren, Melanie and B.J. Johnson, Chris and Donna Gilmer, Kevin and Ashlie Crittendon, Steven and Debbie Crittendon, Kay and Josh Horton and Chip and Brantley Hodges; 23 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends 1:30pm – 2:30pm, Wednesday, March 7, 2018, at Harris Funeral Home – Calhoun Falls Chapel. Funeral services will begin at 3:00pm in the funeral home chapel. Burial will follow in Greenwood Memorial Gardens.
